Car Free Residential Development

Working with planners DPP, on behalf of MBU Red, our Development Planning team prepared a Transport Statement and Travel Plan in support of a planning application for car free residential development, on Scotland Street in the St Vincent’s Quarter of Sheffield city centre.

The proposals will see a surface level car park and a number of old industrial units replaced by high-quality apartments within a few minutes walk of city centre employment opportunities, retail and leisure uses, and only 15 minutes walk from the station.

Our Transport Statement focused on demonstrating the suitability of the proposals in highways terms, illustrating the excellent opportunities for sustainable travel and reduced car dependence, whilst the Travel Plan confirmed the suite of measures that the developer will deliver to support and encourage walking, cycling and public transport, as well as car sharing and use of car club vehicles available locally, recognising that there will be occasions when residents might need access to a vehicle.
