Find out more about John below…

I am an Associate here at TPS, in the Development Planning Team (DP Dream Team). I’m involved in project managing many of our Development Planning projects, from initial concept through to completion of our work. I’ve been at TPS for 3 years now, which has flown by!

I am predominantly office based, or working from the play room, come home office in Holmfirth. My role is varied day-to-day, often filled with fee proposals for new projects, liaising with developers, planners and architects on existing projects and reasoning with local highway authorities regarding proposals which have been submitted. I spend time mentoring more junior members of staff on technical skills and reviewing work they have undertaken. I enjoy the variety of projects we get to work on and the number of clients I have chance to interact with.

I am a massive sports fan, primarily following Huddersfield Town (for my sins), but will honestly sit and watch most sports (gone are the days of playing). This is being imparted on my three year old, slowly but surely, who is subject to Sky Sports (other channels are available) pretty much all day.

I work on that many things each month, it’s hard to pick out a favourite. However, I’ve learnt a lot since working on a number of Battery Energy Storage Schemes, which require a slightly different line of thinking to normal proposals we work on. The impact is more related to the construction of the site so I have gotten to know better what is involved with this and potential constraints to look out for.

There isn’t much chance for winding down, given I’ve got three kids under four. This certainly keeps me on my toes from 6am through to 8pm when I can finally crash. My wife and I have started taking our three year old to the footie now, that’s probably the best chance we get to wind down, where you can think of nothing else other than what is going on, on the pitch. Other than this, do love a sporting series on Netflix, Full Swing, Break Point, Welcome to Wrexham (you get the gist).

How do you fancy being a member of our Development Planning team? We are currently on the look out for a Senior Consultant. You can find out more about the role here.
