Our team has recently been involved in preparing Transport Assessments and Travel Plans for a number of private medical facilities, across the country.
Typically, this has involved a detailed scoping exercise with the local highway authority to confirm the scale of assessment required. Given the nature of the proposals there has been a need to demonstrate the likely traffic impact through a first principles approach that considers staff numbers, appointment schedules and likely mode share.
Car parking demand and servicing are key considerations; particularly where there is a need for operational vehicles, such as MRI scanners, to be able to access the site. We have undertaken vehicle tracking and swept path analysis to demonstrate the suitability of the layouts proposed.
