Responding to the pandemic with bespoke bus services.

On an increasingly frequent basis our team has been supporting clients to understand how they might improve the accessibility of their sites by providing bespoke bus services, which are reflective of the specific needs of their employees or visitors.

For many, the pandemic has introduced concerns over using public transport, that are likely to persist beyond any restrictions on use, particularly on busy services at peak times. But how do we avoid a situation where those that previously used public transport simply jump in their car?

Employer-led shuttle services allow greater surety on capacity, enabling social distancing to continue for the peace of mind of passengers, as well as offering high quality, comfortable vehicles that can be booked in advance, guaranteeing a seat.

Working with operator, Zeelo, our team has led the procurement and delivery of a shuttle bus service for Leeds Trinity University; linking the campus to nearby Horsforth station. This has replaced a more traditional tendered service, in response to passenger feedback. It provides increased flexibility around train times, an ability to book seats via an app and to track the vehicle in real time.

We are also working with a number of other clients, including Sci-Tech Daresbury in Warrington and Kirkstall Forge, in Leeds to advise on how the existing public transport network might be enhanced through similar services, including undertaking engagement activities with tenants and employees to gather valuable feedback on potential routes, service timings and patronage.

If your organisation would benefit from advice on enhancing access to your site by bus, get in touch and we’d be pleased to help!
