Ten Years of Travel Surveys at University of York!

TPS has been supporting the University of York to develop and implement its Travel Plan since 2014; this has included undertaking annual travel surveys on behalf of the university, allowing us to understand staff and student travel patterns over the past 10 years and to calculate the CO2e impact of commuting, to inform Scope III reporting.

The latest survey was completed by over 5,300 staff and students – a fantastic response, providing a wealth of useful data. The results suggest that, since 2014, the proportion of staff commuting to campus by car alone has reduced by 19% whilst students driving alone to campus has reduced by 56%; a testament to the university’s continued commitment to supporting sustainable transport options.

York is just one of many universities we are currently supporting with Travel Surveys, Carbon Assessments and more Strategic Travel Plan Implementation and Transport Planning projects. If you’d like to know how we can support your organisation, please get in touch with Georgina Stares.
