TPS has supported Oxford Brookes University in developing a new car park management strategy. This new strategy will complement the ‘Oxford Campus Vision’ which will see students and staff decant from outlying campuses at both Wheatley and Harcourt Hill to its central campus based at Headington.
The delivery of the Vision will see a reduction in the university’s car parking stock by around two-thirds. Therefore, the car parking management strategy required a radical new approach to permit eligibility and physical management of car parking.
Our work involved extensive consultation with staff, including leading a series of surveys and workshops. We also led discussions with key stakeholders, including HR, Finance, Estates, Security, and faculty heads. TPS also undertook detailed modelling of demand versus supply of spaces over time along with cost/revenue projections. Car parking is often an emotive subject as it requires a balance of needs. Through our extensive experience within the HE sector, we were able to guide the university in how the eligibility should be approached, encouraging an equitable approach to access to car parking.
The culmination of our work saw the CPMS approved by the Vice Chancellor’s Group, with TPS also pleased to be appointed to assist the university in the implementation of the new strategy.
At TPS our team is experienced in the preparation of Car Park Management Strategies for both public and private sector clients, of varying scales. We work closely with clients to understand the parking demand which exists, the complexity of the challenge, and the potential solutions which could be introduced. We identify and advise upon bespoke and innovative solutions, tailored to meet the aims and objectives of an individual project, considering costs, opportunities, and obstacles.
