Over a number of years, our Development Planning team has worked alongside PCMS Design to support Henlow CofE Academy in Bedfordshire. We have worked with the client and design team to secure planning permission for three separate phases of expansion, as it transitions from a Middle to a Secondary School.
Our team has prepared a series of Transport Assessments, to accompany each application, as well as working with the school to develop a Travel Plan that has been updated regularly to reflect the initiatives being delivered on the ground.
With traffic being a contentious issue amongst local residents, we were also required to address a number of specific concerns, requiring a more bespoke approach; this included collecting data on the use of informal off-site parent pick-up and drop-off points, car park accumulation assessments and operational assessments, reflecting multiple days of counts in order to demonstrate that the proposals would not have a detrimental impact on the local road network.
